I've wanted to write books ever since I was a little girl growing up in Yonkers, New York. When I learned to read in the first grade (in those days children in pre-school and kindergarten just played all day) and was given a book about Dick, Jane, and their dog Spot, it bothered me that none of the kids in the illustrations looked like me. (The only thing to be found with a black hue was Spot's spots.) At six years old, I wasn't yet familiar with the term "politically incorrect," but I felt miffed just the same. A writer was born.
Fast forward about 35 years. By then I'd had some nonfiction published, and I'd had two dozen rather lurid, non-bylined, so-called "true" confession stories reach print as well. I decided it was time to go to the next level and write something I could put my name on. So here I am.
