Prolific author, Nancy Gideon, has 38 sales to her credit since her first publication in 1987and a Career Achievement Award for Historical Adventure. Under her own name, she's a Top Ten Waldenbooks' bestseller for Silhouette Intimate Moments . She's also written an award winning vampire romance series for Pinnacle Books earning a "Best Historical Fantasy" nomination from Romantic Times, and Bestselling Paranormal Romance award from Booklovers. Outside of romance, she's written an novelization for a dark fantasy/horror motion picture, In The Woods, which will soon be available on video. Nancy also wrote the dubbing script and has a cameo appearance in the movie! Another Sci-Fi screenplay collaboration is currently being shopped in Hollywood. Plans are in the works with independent studio, Katharsys Pictures for the filming of a horror film based on her first original screenplay in the spring of 1999!

Writing for Zebra as Dana Ransom, she's earned a Career Achievement Award for Historical Adventure and is a K.I.S.S. hero award winner. Best known for her western series; the Prescott family set in the Dakotas and the Bass family in Texas, her last book, Sweet Texas Dreams (12-96) placed second in Readers' Awards and was an RT/Barnes & Noble pick.

Under her new name, Rosalyn West, she writes historical romance for Avon. Her first two books both received "4 ½ Exceptional" ratings from RT and were RT/Barnes & Noble picks. A Woman's Heart was nominated for "Best North American Historical" by RT. Her new Avon series, "The Men of Pride County" debuted in February 1998 with The Outcast, which was an Ingram Paperbacks Buyers Choice and an RT/Barnes & Noble Top Pick. RT calls the heroes of this series, "Unforgettable men!"

Gideon attributes her output of four to six novels per year--the historicals averaging 475 pages and the contemporaries 300--to her love of history, a gift for storytelling, a background in journalism and to the discipline of writing with two active boys in the house. She begins her day at 5 a.m. while the rest of the family is still sleeping. She lives in Portage, Michigan with her husband, two sons, an ugly dog, two lazy cats, a tankful of pampered fish and three frogs (left over from a Scouting badge!).

While the pace is often hectic, Gideon enjoys working on diverse projects. One month, it's researching the gritty existence of 1880s Texas Rangers only to jump to 1990s themes of intrigue and child abuse. Then, it's back to the shadowy netherworlds of vampires and movie serial killers. In between, she's the newsletter editor and former vice president of the Mid-Michigan chapter of Romance Writers of America, an assistant Cub Scout leader, a radio control airplane cheerleader, proud owner of a huge hot tub, a movie- and Internet-aholic, and is a well-known speaker on writing in general and romance in particular, and is widely published in industry trade magazines.
