Erin Kaye was born in Larne, Northern Ireland in 1966 to an Anglo-Irish mother and a Polish-American father. She has four siblings all of whom live abroad - three in the US and one in Melbourne, Australia. She met her future husband, Mervyn, on her first day at the University of Ulster at Coleraine (where two of her sisters were also undergraduates, one of them at the same time as Erin) and married him ten days after graduating in 1988 with a first in Geography. They spent their honeymoon boating on the lakes of Fermanagh before Erin joined a Scottish bank as a graduate recruit in Aberdeen.
Ten years later, fuelled with the urge to get off the corprate tread-mill and live a different sort of life, she threw caution to the wind and packed in her career. Her first novel was accepted by an agent on the condition that she re-write it in line with the agent’s suggestions, which she did in the two months following the birth of her first child. Dublin-based publishers, Poolbeg Press, liked it so much they offered her a three-book deal. Her six novels to date - MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS, CHOICES, SECOND CHANCES, CLOSER TO HOME, MY HUSBAND'S LOVER and THE ART OF FRIENDSHIP - have all featured on the Irish bestseller list.
Since 1991 she’s lived in North Berwick, on the east coast of Scotland, with her husband Mervyn, her two young children, Ryan and Liam, and Murphy the dog. Published by Dublin-based Poolbeg Press, and Avon (an imprint of Harper Collins) in the UK her books are available from all good book stores, www.poolbeg.com, and www.amazon.co.uk.
