Whisper Town
by : Patricia Hickman

The award-winning author of Fallen Angels and Nazareth's Song delivers the third novel in the acclaimed Millwood Hollow series about an unlikely hero and a ragtag trio of orphans in racially segregated 1930s Arkansas. Life is getting more complicated for Reverend Jeb Nubey. Angel, the oldest of his 'adopted' orphan waifs, is now a teenager, and is making his life miserable. Jeb is still keen on pursuing the charming schoolteacher, Fern Coulter, but his old adversary, Oz Mills, is crowding the way. A mysterious crime in the apple orchards has the whole town speculating, and to top it off, an infant girl has been left abandoned on the white preacher's doorstep. The fact that the child is black adds tension to the situation, and Jeb is forced to look at some of his new neighbors in a new light. As Jeb gets caught in the vortex of Depression-era racism, his leadership of the Church in the Dell is tested, as is his ability to keep his growing family safe.
