Haunted by his past, Drake Rutledge remained isolated and angry, but reluctantly agrees to let Faith and her children stay in his mansion, with Faity working as a housekeeper and cook. Before long he is drawn to this Shakespeare-quoting beauty: he finds his heart softening towards her and her children, as Faith gently coaxes him out of his bitter darkness and into the light. Just as her painful past brought her into relationship with Christ, she walks with Drake as he moves out of his brokenheartedness towards God.
As his eyes open and he sees how isolated he is, he realized that his past still burdens him; that its kept him from relationships with others; and that his participation in the community could save Dead Horse from becoming extinct.
