Review for Mad About Max (ebook)

Reviewer Comments: Holly Jacobs is rereleasing her Fairy Godmother books. I have not read them before so was interested when this first one was rereleased. They were previously published under Holly Fuhrmann. I really enjoyed this light, funny story about what happens when Fairy Godmothers interfere in a writer’s life. Grace MacGuire writes romance novels for a living. She has created a series in which three Fairy Godmothers interfere in relationships and often cause more trouble before they help the main characters get together. She knows that she created them so when they show up in her car, Grace is sure she is going crazy. Grace has a stepmother and a stepsister who would love for Grace to lose her mind so Grace decides to find someone to cure her. Dr. Artemus Maxmillion Aaronson is not what Grace expected when she made an appointment with a psychiatrist. Grace was expecting someone older and wiser, not the attractive man that appeared. Not wanting to seem even crazier, Grace quickly left. Her Fairy Godmothers had other plans and soon Grace runs into Max again. Fortunately, he wants to help and seems to take her craziness in stride. What ensues results in mayhem and hysterical situations that could only be caused by bumbling Fairy Godmothers. There is a kidnapping, a fortune in jeopardy and a cross-country chase to Vegas. There are so many funny moments in this book. I was often laughing out loud as I read it. Grace and Max have such an interesting dynamic. She talks to invisible people and he doesn’t blink. He accepts Grace for who she is and is attracted to her. Seeing them work out what is going on is a joy. This book is not serious nor is it meant to be. It is a perfect lighthearted romance with plenty of comedic elements. Reading this book makes me want to read the rest of the books in the series. I have a feeling Max’s siblings are in for some wild adventures of their own.
